Product Description

Sony KDL-23S2010 23" S-Series LCD HDTV

From the Manufacturer

The S Series is the latest offering from the Sony Bravia line of high-performance and sleek styling LCD TVs. Features such as PC input allow the user to connect a PC for viewing content in a 16:9 high resolution environment. And with integrated HDTV capabilities, you can enjoy digital programming with enhanced audio and video reproduction. While the KDL-23S2010 is value priced, it also offers an elegant flat panel design to place anywhere in your home.

Feature List
7th Generation Sony® LCD Panel: The Sony® S-Series LCD TVs use 7th generation Sony LCD panels for truly matchless image quality and performance. These panels are produced from one of the world's biggest mother glass to efficiently create large, high quality panels. The LCD high definition display (1366 x 768) that is used offers an astounding 178 degree viewing angle, very fast response times (8 ms total rise and fall time) and a spectacular contrast ratio.

BRAVIA Engine™ Full Digital Video Processor: BRAVIA™ S-Series Digital LCD televisions use Sony's BRAVIA Engine™ full digital video processor for crisp and clear images. Several special picture enhancement technologies are integrated into the processor to create better gradations and details, enhance contrast, dynamically improve color, and reduce image flicker.

HDMI™ and PC Connectivity: Designed for maximum versatility, Sony's S-Series Digital LCD TV line is equipped with a comprehensive range of input interfaces. The HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI technology supports enhanced or High Definition video, together with multi-channel digital audio to provide matchless image and sound reproduction. The PC input (HD-15-pin) offers easy connection to your PC, allowing you to use your high resolution BRAVIA S-Series Digital TV as a computer monitor.

Light Sensor Intelligently adjusts the screen brightness to match the ambient light in a room, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience. In a dim room for example the screen automatically reduces brightness making it much more comfortable for viewing.

SRS® TruSurround® XT: Building on the success of TruSurround technology, TruSurround XT audio adds three new audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience. Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into "focus" during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper. TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself. And WOW widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

Freeze Function: Sony's Freeze Function is a useful function that allows you to temporarily freeze the picture in a separate screen while the programming continues to display. This comes in handy when you want to copy a recipe, phone number, etc. that flashes too quickly across your screen. Simply touch the "Freeze" button on the remote control and copy the details down at your convenience.

 "Demons In My TV!!!!!" 2007-12-26
By Toni Riss (Garland, Tx United States)
I purchased this Bravia in Feb of 2007. About two months ago the TV started to shut on and off on its own. I kept thinking maybe I hit the remote or something, but the problem started happening when I was away from the chair I keep the remote in. On Dec 24th of this year the TV was rapidly going on/off and started to smell like it was burning up. The set was hot to the touch. I did some research on the Sony Bravia and found that there has been recalls of these kinds of sets by Sony for the very problem I am having. My suggestion to anyone who buys one of these is to 1) buy the extended warranty that the store offers you because if you don't and you go to Sony with the problem they will only offer you a refurbished set 2) Unplug the set when you are not at home, if it has the same weird problem I am having contact the store where you bought it from immediately. This was clearly becoming a fire hazard and my smoke alarms went berserk the night it started smoking. I am now buying a Samsung LCD for my house instead, though I hope that my extended warranty will be honored on this Sony and I'll have a new replacement. I hope I prevent others from going through the hell that I am with this set.

"Very nice HD TV in a smaller size" 2007-11-10
By L. Williams (Centerville, OH USA)
I needed to replace the tv in the master bedroom. Since the tv needed to sit on an antique dresser, a 26" was a bit too big and I started looking for smaller models. I am extremely pleased with this television! The picture is great, the automatic light adjustment is quite useful since sometimes I watch with the lights on and sometimes with them off, and the black cabinet is much nicer than the rpevious silver ones (I waited several months to be able to purchase this in the black instead of the previous model in the silver).

Two drawbacks are the lack of a second HDMI connection, and because of the way my digital cable and other units had to be connected, some of the television features (e.g. savingfavorite digital and analog channels) are not functional (perhaps, however, there is an alternate way of connecting that would eliminate this problem).

 "Sony Kdl23s2010" 2007-04-07
By Jeffrey J. Wedinger (Cincinnati, OH)
I've had the tv for about a month and couldn't be more satisfied with the purchase. We use it in our large kitchen and it's on more than any of our other televisions. The picture is terrific! I compared other brands and feel this particular Sony model was the best of all. I also like the remote control because it's simple. In my estimation the fewer the buttons the better. Finally, once again; dealing with Amazon was smooth as silk. Easy to buy, easy to deal with, and the goods delivered as promised.

 "Amazing antenna reception" 2007-01-20
By Gary T. (Kentucky, USA)
I bought this TV for use in the kitchen where currently there is not a cable hookup. I did not expect to see anything exceptional when I turned it on since it was only hooked up to an inexpensive amplified indoor antenna. The analog channels were unwatchable but then I ran the auto program to find digital channels. The TV was able to find 20 or so HD and digital broadcast signals in the area which are as clear and clean as any you will see in the big store showrooms. We only use the kitchen TV to watch the local network affiliates and with the exceptional reception this TV produces, I am in no hurry to arrange a cable hookup.

"The Best Picture I've Seen!" 2007-01-14
By Richard Burleson (Orlando, FL USA)
When I did my research for a small(er) HDTV, I couldn't find a lot of info, so I went to the stores. I had almost given up until I turned toward the Bravia. It had the clearest, cleanest, warmest picture I had seen, especially compared to other TVs in the store. Right out of the box it sets itself up and is ready for many, many hours of great viewing. There are audio and video adjustments that you may or may not need. It has many more options than I'll ever need.

I can find a single thing wrong with it unless it breaks down, which I don't anticipate. Bravo Sony on this Bravia!
