This is the greatest television ever, just like the subject line of this review says. If it were possible to give "Six" stars, I would. Very pleased with this set - after six months of countless hours of viewing on all sorts of football, tv, movie circumstances. Great, great tv. Buy one, buy this one, and be very glad that you did. Only buy though, if you have the available $$$ for such a thing. Real great alternative is a Vizio, might not be the high-quality la-la of this one - but will save ya the dough, if thats your case. If you have it, and can spend it, spend it here on this model. The glass floating perimeter of the set never gets old to look at. Clean lines.

I did months of research before I decided on the Sony XBR2. I wanted to find out if the higher price was worth it. It definitely is! The HD picture quality is amazing! It is almost three dimensional My set is 46" so it feels like I am looking out of my window at the action on the screen. Colors are beautiful and vivid! I find myself watching programs that I hate if they are in HD. Simulated surround sound is pretty good too, particularly in movies. I wish it had PIP especially at this price! It has a freeze picture option but it requires me to use the Sony remote vs the Comcast cable remote. My wife and I really like the floating appearance and the silver color...very elegant! Bottom line is that this is the best combination of quality, performance, good looks on the market today.

As of November 13, 2007 I've had this television three months. I ordered through Amazon. Eagle Shipping called two days prior with the date and possible delivery time. They made the delivery within two hours of their estimation. As soon as the t.v. arrived I watched it in a windowless room. I can not perceive any inconsistencies or "cloudy / gray" areas. Please do not let previous reviews deter you from purchasing any of the Sony XBR line T.V.'s. I am convinced the "ghosting" complaints were very legitimate but limited to specific production dates.
First, there are T.V.'s with better picture quality but my environment is a livingroom with three full walls of windows. A plasma T.V. was not a viable option. From my four months of "playing around" before buying I will subscribe to most professional publications- Pioneer (plasma) picture quality is currently the best. Back on track- When watching a full HD program the picture is stunning. However; if you are not watching an HD program, then the picture is fair. I had to upgrade my cable service substancially to get any HD networks- A hidden cost to remember. I also discovered not all cameras at sports events are HD. There is a dramatic (and very distracting) difference in picture quality during HD sporting events. I do not notice the "streaking" which some people claim to see when watching fast moving objects. Finally, there are a lot of "tweeks" (picture options) available in the XBR series. A lot of reviews list this as a "negative" or "unnessessary" feature. I completely disagree. It takes time to navigate the sub-menus and to cross-check your settings but once complete, the final picture is superb when compared to the default settings.
My complaints: I do not use the remote except to adjust the picture. Everything is done by my HD cable remote. Sony boasts about the "Floating Glass" Design. It's nice but it adds four inches to the width. That makes this a very big t.v. and (unless you mount it) you must be aware of the space needed to house it. Also, not to be redundant- but you must adjust nearly all picture settings to enjoy this t.v. Finally, this is a very expensive "toy." And like all electronics the price has dropped $299 since I bought it. Pay the extra $100 or $200 to ensure you can return it if you do not like it. READ the RETURN POLICIES because there are numerous restrictions and restocking fees at most wholesale electronic stores. Thanks for reading and good luck in your purchase.

I almost decided to buy a Samsung. My friend recomended this and after a demo I fell in love with this TV. This was replacement for OLD Mitshubisi HD1080 series.
Once I got the TV I hooked up my PS3 and ONKYO home theater and WOW!!!
The blu-ray movies are mind blowing. The PS3 games looks almost real like.
There is slight clouding issue as mentioned in several forms but that does not bother me at all. No issues while watching the TV or playing the games.
Two of my friends bought this TV after watching Blu-Ray movies in my setup. That says a lot about this TV.
